Entry Level Welding Training

Entry Level Welding Training

The Entry Level Welding Course is a six week course with a curriculum designed to meet the requirements of local employer’s welding disciplines. Students will learn basic welding skills and gain familiarity with employer’s welding requirements.  The course curriculum is from The National Center for Construction Education and Research.  Graduating students will receive a NCCER certificate.  Job placement assistance is available for successful graduates.

Subjects covered include:

  • Basic and Welding Safety
  • Introduction to Construction Math, Hand Tools, Power Tools, Construction Drawings, Materials Handling
  • Basic Rigging
  • Basic Communication Skills and Employability Skills
  • Oxyfuel and Plasma Arc Cutting
  • Air Carbon Arc Cutting and Gouging
  • Base Metal Preparation
  • Weld Quality
  • SMAW – Equipment and Setup
  • SMAW – Shielded Metal ARC Electrodes
  • SMAW – Beads & Fillet Welds
  • Joint Fit-Up and Alignment
  • SMAW – Groove Welds with Backing
  • SMAW – Open V-Groove Welds
  • GMAW and PCAW Plate

Student Requirements:

  • Drug Free
  • Strong Work Ethic
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Reliable Transportation
  • Steel Toed Boots

Students will receive a certification of course completion from the WCA Regional Training Center and will also receive an NCCER Certificate of completion and wallet card.
